1930 Tudor top wood replacemnet I was helping a friend replace his top material when we realized a lot of the wood was rotted. My question is approx how many hours would it take to replace the front header, the side, and back pieces of wood if you have never done this before ?? I realize you have to take the windshield out, visor off and remove part or all of the head liner. The center pieces of wood and ribs look OK Thanks for any info. I do have the model a mechanics handbook vol 2 which shows how to do this. I also assume that a Canadian tudor has the same wood as a regular model a?? Do I assume wrong??

Re: 1930 Tudor top wood replacemnet I concur with blessyouboys.2 days should get the job done.Fitting the header will take most of the time. The bows will go in easy.Don't quote me on this but I think the only difference you will find is the Canadian model had Robertson screws instead of slotted:D.

Re: 1930 Tudor top wood replacemnet Hopefully we will not be taking out the bows and the side pieces that they attach to. Do you think it will still take 16 hours??

Good luck. |
Re: 1930 Tudor top wood replacemnet Thanks for the replies. I thought more people would have replaced their wood but I guess not. 16 hours sounds good to me.

Re: 1930 Tudor top wood replacemnet Well, I replaced all of the top wood in my Tudor in 1975, so I don't remember the time it took. But replacing the wood in that car and in my 29 CCPU were two of the more pleasant jobs in restoration: you're not getting greasy, and you're not laying on your back contorting your body into uncomfortable positions like so much restoration work requires! And the look of that fresh wood is something to behold. Shoot, I'd almost replace it again just to able to see it.........
