Are You New.. I Was Too...Best Ever Book

I was just dusting off some things in the basement....I'm 66 now but when I was 18 my mom gave me this book (available...see link). I ate, slept and drank it. Yes I had Motor, Chiltons and others but this book for a kid new to old cars was the BEST.

I won't sell mine but they are out there.... points, rotor, condenser and a bunch of "old school" stuff that at the time was new to me. FYI. I know the Red Book by Les Andrews is the bible, but the bible assumes the new guys know what is meant by timing, top dead center, dwell....etc. This old time classic is the best for the new guy/gal into old time cars. I can't sell mine, mom gave it to me!

One more best ever book after the first one described. Just for historical interest.

Yep, time for Brent to chime in. Or maybe we commission Paul to do one to compliment the Les Andrews ones

I have a Volkswagen manual like that from the mid-70's,but it is not from that series.Mine is,How To Repair Your Volkswagen For The Compleat Idiot. It was written by John Muir. While I have the Bently series of VW manuals now, they're a lot more technical. For the average guy keeping his old beetle running, the John Muir book is the weapon.

I just checked and lots of them are available on Amazon.com and eBay.

Mafca has a good one. It is called "Get A Horse' by Jack Bahm III. "What to do when Henry's Lady quits on you.' It has saved me several times. 37 pages of excellent information...Ernie in Arizona

Best VW manual ever.
I got it from the Tampa Public Library, mid 70s, and never returned it.
Still in a place of honor on my bookshelf.
Sometime in the mid-90s I developed a conscience, bought a new copy and mailed it to the library with a contrite letter of explanation.:o

Jack Bahm was a great guy. I looked for the book on the MAFCA site, but I didn’t see it.
