Unusual woody on line |
Re: Unusual woody on line Nothing unusual about this 1930 woody. It is a standard 1930 Ford Station Wagon. Although there were several body makers who made the wood bodies, they all followed the Ford Motor Company designs and directives and were a 100 % Ford product. This Station Wagon is a stock and standard example of the 1930 Ford Station Wagon ("Woody"). Yes it does have later Ford wheels, and some odd-ball head light buckets, but other wise is quite normal and ordinary.

Re: Unusual woody on line I just googled Raulang the body tag name shown in the last photo. The text said Baker Raulang produced some bodies for the 150-B station wagon, shipped them to Ford, and they were installed on the assembly line. You take info found on line as you find it, no guarantee of accuracy.

Re: Unusual woody on line They should have lettered, "MONEY PIT" on the side.

Re: Unusual woody on line There was a Raulang bodied wagon at the New England meet last weekend, and it was just like that one, but not with windows. The doors had the same paneling, but not painted of course. Someone added the windows, but started with a stock model A wagon.

Re: Unusual woody on line is it just me or does that steering wheel look oddly small?

Re: Unusual woody on line RE: Post # 6 : Never was an addage more true than "A picture is worth a thousand words."
With your photo documentation to give a closer look, I too would say that the woody has been 'adjusted' for a slightly more modern look and service. Besides some wood up-grade, I see that it has a '32 - '34 head on the engine block - possibly with the matching '31-34 block, although the oil filler looks like an 'A'; also a down-draft carburetor & other '40's electrical up-grades. Besides the later wheels, I noticed '32 tail lights and later rear bumper - who knows what else has been 'modernized'. |

Re: Unusual woody on line You have to admit, whoever made the windows did a pretty good job of making it "weather proof".
