Flathead in stereo

Any suggestions on pipes and mufflers for my '39? The motor is a heated up 8ba with the normal 'hot' street mods on a 270 incher. It sounds great through the headers (straight pipes?) but I'm not sure my wife and the cops would agree with me. In my opinion, glass paks sound good except for excessive flatulence on decelleration. Price and durability are always factors. Experience and opinions are welcomed.

I run Read's Headers with Brockman Mellow-Tone steel packed mufflers on all our Flatheads with dual exhaust:D. Brockman will custom make your mufflers to your specs, to achieve the sound you want. My preference, I love to hear them “rap-off”... when you back off the gas. My opinion is; they don't have to be loud but they do have to be mellow. Vic

I have Red's headers with a pair of Jones 12" glass packs on my 8BA 41 pickup. If it is too loud for the wife running the pipes out under the rear bumper should help.

Vic try the tube in the exhaust as I described in another post. You won't believe the sound. G.M.

That's right. They're made to order in Indiana USA, and you can't beat the price. I have his glasspacks... very mellow!

I agree with Vic on that, and Brockman is the way to go.
