Parts list for steering box rebuild

I know that there have been a lot of posts on here of late about rebuilding Ford steering boxes... A friend of mine is rebuilding mine. It's amazing... This is a frame-off restored Sedan Delivery. They took the lid off this box, painted the lid and installed new polished bolts and nuts to make the box appear to be rebuilt... But it is your typical box found in a car that's been sitting for 30 years or more. All rust and chewed up guts.

Here's where I could use some help from the old Ford experts... I'd like to order parts from Macs. There relatively close by NJ. While Early Ford Parts has a kit package for this Macs does not. I was hoping that someone using Macs numbers, could give me a parts list of what is typically required to rebuild this box. The sector shaft is badly scored. That's not a cheap date. So I will be ordering that as well. I'd appreciate any help. Don't want to tie up my buddy any longer that necessary. So I'd like to make sure that I provide everything he will need.

Jim you don't say exactly which box you are rebuilding. I just had the same nasty surprise on a 36 box, it was a paint can overhaul. I think mine was cleaned thoroughly years ago, painted and forgot to put oil in it and it rusted badly. We need to know the model and it will be more accurate if you list the part number on the case in case somebody has done a swap.

Dan... It certainly would help if I put the year in. It's a 1940. Don't have the car here to get the number. But it is an original 40 box.

Thanks

Go to www.joblotauto.com and open the .pdf of the catalog. There is an exploded view of the steering box with part nos on page 46.
