Coolant additive, will it help?

So before I do a full radiator flush I was wondering if adding something like water wetter to the existing coolant would help or hurt an old flathead. I'm assuming it will hurt it, so I might as well do the flush and figure out something else to keep the engine cool

It won't hurt it, but the chances of it curing the heating problem are slim. A properly cleaned radiator in good condition is the best insurance against heating trouble. Nothing against the water wetter type surfactants...they are a decent product.

Great, thanks. I'll just do a flush and clean.

Nothing cools better than straight water. However, you do need an anti corrosion agent with a water pump lubricant.

Fix the actual issue and then proceed. I use norosin in mine. (We don’t get cold enough for antifreeze)

Use distilled water not regular faucet water. Cheap at your local grocery store.
