Model A produce trucks

I remember when I was a lil kid, around 1950, that the downtown Market Square in Knoxville, Tennessee had a long row of Model A pickups loaded with vegetable produce and maybe flowers in the truck beds for sale.

Anyone else remember something similar?

In the summer, in Two Rivers, WI a man came every week in a 1914 Model T touring with the car full of flowers and vegetables. I looked mostly at the car but my Aunt bought veggies.

There is a fellow in Rochester, MN by the name of Jay Hesley that has his father's Model A pickup (28' or '29) that was a delivery truck from a grocery store in Rochester along with the folding wooden crates from the store. The Model A was assembled in the twin cities plant and has a very low serial number. It had a roof over the bed to protect items stored in the bed for delivery. I purchased my Model A(28 Blindback) from Jay's father in 2000. You could try to get in touch with Jay for some pictures as it may be what you are looking for.

There were a bunch of them here in Knoxville including 32 and 34 pickups. When the market house burned, the city fathers decided to "clean up" the square. Some of those trucks had set there in their place for many years. I remember only one that showed up after the clean up and it ended up at four way inn.

Thanks, WTSHNN, that big pic looks to be at least 1958 or later based on the Olds in the pic.

Not too many Model A's there by then.

Our local Model A Club....The Lake County A’s meet at
The Lady Luck Garage in Kelseyville CA.
This garage is about 8000’ of collector type cars that are
mostly there on consignment. Quite a variety of cars.
Currently there is a 1930 Hack that for many years was
a vegetable sellers truck. A little tired as it sits... but runs.
Cool piece of local history. Take it home for only $10,000.
