6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet https://www.fordbarn.com/wp-content/u.../04/leader.jpg
I was tooling around the internet early this week and stumbled upon something you don't see everyday. How about a '36 Ford Club Cabriolet with 6000 original miles? To read the rest of this blog entry from The Ford Barn, click here. |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Jaw drops to floor. That's effectvely showroom. Drool.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Interesting car, wonder why they put the 37 emblem on the grill?
|
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Hmmm.... If it really has 6000 original why does it have repo Argentina running boards (produced in late 80s and sold by J.C. Whitney).
|
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Absolutely beautiful! Did anyone call for the price? Just curious...
Need to photoshop out the yellow Dodge Ram in the background. |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet The price is $40k. They say all original except the hood ornament. The original one was broken. It's a cabriolet with a back seat not a rumble seat.
|
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Double Hmmm.... Lots of changes for that sort of mileage. I'm not sure that the exterior color conforms with the colors offered in the '36 model year, including the Easter colors. Nice looking underbody, for sure.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet What color would this be called?

Maybe I'm being to picky, but then again, my '36 has 139k on it and the body fitment is much better.. |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Paint color seems to change at hood/cowl line, as in possible front end accident/re-paint. DD

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet What is an original mile anyway? Can you get new old stock miles? How much are they?
I think Drake should reproduce miles. Would a USA mile be better than a mile from China? |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet It is possible it had an accident, but remember, the fitment of the old Fords was not all that good in the beginning. If the paint is as old as the car, it has probably discolored some over the years.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet I believe it's vineyard green, getting ready to paint my 36 5w, I like this color. Don't see it very often

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet In 1976 I saw a 1940 Deluxe Coupe in Ed Winfield's garage in Las Vegas that had about 40,000 miles on it. Everything fit perfectly. But this was a car with original factory leather interior that was at the 1939 auto show in San Francisco. Winfield bought it at the show for his wife.
Kong Jackson bought it and drove it home to Glendale the next day. It still smelled new inside. I will not say what Kong paid. He said not to. A few years later my dad bought a 37 Standard Coupe with 38K miles and almost perfect. Fit was excellent. Both cars mentioned did not have the original miles on it. They came from Montgomery Ward as replacement miles:D Tim |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet A friend found a 1935 Cabriolet in the late 1960's with around 5,000 miles on it, I drove it around last year and added about five to the current 10,000 or so miles on it. Bob

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet 2 Attachment(s)
In the attached pix you can see how a grille, etc. fits on a car that has never been in an accident. The hood and radiator have been off for engine replacement, the grille shell has never been touched.. The car has been repainted once, black over the original black..

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Steve, the '40 with the tach and "factory" dual exhaust was a Convertible. I think (at the time we shot the video) the two cars were parked next to each other in the museum.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet My 41k original miles Fordor flatback sedan looked many times better than that '36 when I got it in 2007. After seven years and 22k more miles it still looks better, IMHO. Not bragging...just saying. That '36 has had a tough time somewhere in those 6k miles.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet My 36 woodie has 1,092 miles on the odometer.

We jumped it and it started right up. Kong and Ed tweaked it a bit and Ed offered it to Kong for a sweet deal. Kong used to sweep floors for Winfield when he as a little kid. Winfield liked Kong a lot and that is why the price was so low. Why do you think Kong was so smart? That 40 ran like a top. Here is from left to right Kong, Winfield and myself checking out my B engine with Cook four port. Two Winfield carbs on the left side http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...v/PICT0048.jpg It was neat getting advice from Winfield. I wonder what ever happened to that Kong prototype ignition. Notice the four cylinder GM cap Tim |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet I'd like to see the photo, can you post it again?

http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...I/PICT0048.jpg Doug Boyd was on that trip and he had one of those really big giant cameras. Winfield got out his photo album and he took some pics of the pics. Here is one of Ed Winfield with his Model T powered race car. http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...I/scan0006.jpg Notice to cool intake manifold for the updraft Winfield Carb. He did it that way cus he wanted a specific length from carb to intake valve. Ed did not like having two intake ports on the T with 1-2-4-3 timing. He fixed that by building a crank that was two up then two down. Now his timing was 1-3-2-4 so that the intake was 180 deg apart. I am sure he had a few other speed secrets. Tim |
Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet That is outstanding! Thanks for posting.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet Low miles and poorly fitting sheet metal means probably been wrecked and sat many years until someone found it and got it back togather.
