1961 and '62 Ford 390 engines My question isn't urgent. Just something I have wondered about. The 1961 and '62 Ford 390 engines had gold valve covers in the single 4 bbl. and tri-power versions. Does anyone know if the solid lifter versions with single 4 bbl. and tri-power (375 HP and 401 HP) were the only ones that had the round sticker on the valve covers that said "390 High Performance", or did the hydraulic lifter 390's (single 4 and tri-power) also use this label ? Wondering if it was a way to tell the two apart back in the day. Thank you, Sal Cicala.

Re: 1961 and '62 Ford 390 engines Sal, I think only the 375 and 401 hp motors got the Hi-perf sticker. The hi-perf cars also had bigger brakes, 15" welded K-H wheels, a 3/8 " fuel line and a re- routed brake line under the radiator to the right front.

Re: 1961 and '62 Ford 390 engines Thanks for the information. That's what I was thinking too, but wasn't sure. Thanks also for the info on the brakes, wheels, and fuel/brake lines. An old friend of mine had a '62 Sunliner with a 390 tri power (401 HP) with 4 speed way back in the 60's.
