vin # tag

I am a new member of the Barn . We have a 1928 Pepsi truck and I need to attach the ID plate on the firewall with VIN # . Where do I put it ? There is not one on there now

Re: vin # tag

Since the VIN was never stamped onto the firewall, you really are at liberty to mount it wherever you choose. Maybe you could use an early Model T data tag that has a place to stamp the serial number on it and it would look somewhat authentic just above where the fuel line comes through the firewall.

Call your local DMV and ask the question. They will probably tell you, depending on where you are located, it's illegal to attached a VIN tag yourself.

Re: vin # tag

The VIN was originally on the side of the engine and on top of the frame under the front drivers side of the body. Only seen by removing the body.

So, if you want a visible on, put it where ever you like. Perhaps under the Ford patent plate on the firewall on passenger side, or in door jamb, or on frame rail, etc.

Thanks for all the feed back . The truck will never be licensed for the road . It is strickly a parade truck and car show truck that is owned by Pepsi here in London Ontario Canada . I have the privillage of being able to maintain her and take her on road trips in an Auto hauler trailer . I like the idea of putting the ID plate under the patent plate . I have engraved the engine serial # on it . It is for show only . It is acually a early 28 chassis with an aftermarket cab and bed . The chassis and cab are original ( just new paint ) the cab is made of wood and is from 1928 not steel like the acual Model AA -- still a cool truck
