Model A movie
 

Here's one I came across that's fun to watch. Didn't see it in the archives.

Melvin Purvis, G-Man. (1974) American Pictures International. Stars Dale Robertson.

You can get it on Netflix. Lots of cool Model A Ford shots, plenty of Model A driving scenes! Check it out perfect weather to sit in and watch a Prohibition era flick!

1wonton, just watched it again today on Netflix it's on the instant streaming anyway, should be available on DVD?

Kind of cheesy in places like 'North Shore, Chicago, Dec. 1933' and it looks kinda warm you'll freeze your keesters off there in December...... I'm sure they took plenty of liberties w/ it but there are plenty of Model A scenes and you can see them driving around, that's what makes it fun!

Ill have to find that one.

I just watched one of my favorite movies "The Untouchables" and it is full of model A's and others of the same era. "Road to Perdition" is another great one although I am sure the car Tom Hanks is driving is a Chevy. I know.... it's a 4 letter word with 5 letters. :(

If anyone knows of any other movies let us know.

Dillinger (1973) is absolutely loaded with Model As and lots of driving scenes, rollovers, and other Model A mayhem.

Check out a movie called Lawless. Early 30's bootlegger movie in Virginia.

I hate to say this, but most gangsters and outlaws of the 20's and 30's. Would not be caught dead in a Model-A.:eek: No class and most of all no power. Bad guys wanted to get away fast so anything with a straight eight or V-8 was preferable. Big city gangsters preferred high end cars like Cadillac (Al Capones ride of choice), Packard, Lincoln, etc. Hollywood
uses so many "A's" because they are inexpensive and plentiful and look the part. Clyde Barrow and Dillinger liked V-8 Fords because they had speed and were readily available. And did not stick out like a big fancy car.:)

Dunn1929,,,check here on a 'search' feature a lot of discussion on Model A's in the movies, the guys listed quite a few take a look!

When you type in 'Melvin Purvis; G-Man' in the header bar at Netflix it is listed, but when you click on it it is not there? Weird. You can watch it in a streaming mode. May have to buy it on Amazon or Deep Discount DVD. I stumbled on it by accident.

My biggest pet peeve about period movies is that the cars, trucks, busses, etc. are always showroom perfect and spotless. They are obviously using 900-point restored vehicles. Nobody's car looked like that back then. No car left the showroom with the same quality paint job as a restoration because they didn't have the good paint back then.

Besides, any car that was in the rust belt for more than one winter looked, well, rusty. Not to mention dented. Of course the problem is that the movie makers have to lease their period vehicles from collectors, who are not going to allow the vehicles to be dented and have the paint made dull. Probably the average movie viewer doesn't notice or care.

What I notice is beat up A's that are less than a year old according to the movie timeline.

Nice old film. Lots of fun. I noticed a few Sealed beam headlights.
Do you think they really drove that Rolls Royce off the bridge? What a shame if they did.
