Are These Model A Parts?

2 Attachment(s)
Been sorting through some boxes that were collected decades ago by my dad for my 29 RPU. Most I have figured out but there a couple that I'm not sure about. There have been a few 56 F100 parts mixed in. #1 and #2 look similar but they are not. #3 was sealed in bag and appeared a new part.

#1 and #2 are hood rod brackets
#3 A3519 is a steering column support bracket

Thanks Bob. That's what first came to mind with #1 and #2 but wasn't sure. I'm assuming they mount flat side up under the cowl lip. Do they not match side to side? Are these the correct ones for '29?

Yes #2 is for the 28/29. #1 is for Std 30/31 vehicles.

They mount flat side down onto the cowl area just behind where the cowl lacing is installed.

The hood latch brackets use flat or oval head screws into captive 12-24 nuts in the cowl. I've seen all manner of workarounds since the 12-24 isn't a commonly available size in your average hardware store or big box DIY. Hint - it is NOT a 10-24!

I've never seen any captive nuts there. They must have all been jiggered up some time over the past 90+ years and removed. I use about a 5 mm nut and bolt but might make something that will stay there so I can fit them more easily. That won't be difficult.

They’re there on USA made cars (cage nuts)
Dunno about exports

You can also get them from the usual Model A vendors.

Not on Aussie RHD, they were screw and nut, either 3/16 or 1/4, can't remember which.

Not sure about the Hood Retainer Cage construction of McMaster's Cage Nuts, but speaking from experience on restoring Windshield Filler Trim, do NOT use the 5/16-24 Cage Nuts that McMaster Carr carries. There is a punched flange on the bottom that must be removed for the cage to sit flat. Also, the cage is not accurately bent requiring some time to make those correct.

I think the next time I will make the cage frame using a CNC plasma and make a set of dies to bend the cage.
