Zach, For the sake of the historians and future restorations, it would be great if you took closeup pictures of each feature (you've done some), and save examples of those items that will be replaced.

As you wil be modifying it anyway, consider a rear tv camera for visibility. You have no idea of the true definition of "blind spot" is until you drive your Delivery.

Congratulations on the great find. Looks like it will fit right in with the other cars in your stable.

Super nice find on the sedan delivery. You have some kind of a wife there that lets you have all of those toys. LOL

I'd build a 276, stock 8ba cam and distributor, milled EAB heads and a 4bl. This combo with a michel will give grea economy and divisibility. I wouldn't use a Lincoln trans, gearing is bad for towing. Think torque.

CONGRATULATIONS. I have a feeling that your sedan delivery is pretty rare. Model 91C-82-A is a 1939 panel delivery (with slats) (112" wheelbase.) Model 91C-82-b is listed as 1939 Panel delivery (with masonite) (112" wheelbase). No production numbers available, that I could find.

Awesome find!!! lucky all the "hard parts" are there. Finding the rest of the left side stainless may be a bit tough

Son, you have one fine car collection! Your lady friend sounds like a definite "keeper" as well. Enjoy all while you can.

zach

glad you got it!
the teasers you sent didnt show how perfect this thing is..
I love your ideas for modification.. most of which would go totally unnoticed..
didnt realize you needed a lower door hinge..
that will be the tough one?

as for hoops quote.. I've gotta repeat it!

see you at hershey!

The sedan delivery and the Divco are not the only prizes you have.

Re: My new 1939 Sedan Delivery!

Thank you everyone!
I got it out again today and washed some of the dirt off...
Girlfriend (Heidi) vaccuumed out the whole inside yesterday for me.

Big news is that I got the hood to shut! (and got the Divco running!)
the pass side hinges are bent... i got them close.. but ended up with only one bolted on to keep from bending the hood any worse... I'll fool with it more once i get the hood side off.

ol'ron I was actually thinking about the lincoln trans with 28 or 29 tooth ford gears in it... save the "lincoln gears" for one of my light weight roadsters...
but I'm thinking the actual overdrive unit on the lincoln trans may not be up to the pulling of a trailer? anyone have any experience?

I have all the stainless... only thing actually missing is the rear door lock cylinder, as far as I can tell..

Also, does anyone know whats up with the door handles? why do they spring upward?

Thanks alot for all of the replies everyone!
Zach

Hi Zach, You really scored big time finding that nice rare '39 Sedan Delivery! That nice find probably deserves to be kept as original as possible. Those other cars in your collection look very nice and interesting as well. Now I am a little concerned that I didn't see that '35 5W RS Coupe anywhere in the building :)

I couldn't agree more regarding the documentation of this quite rare vehicle.

If you aren't already a member of the Early Ford V8 Club perhaps you would like to join (and have the pleasure of seeing the local guys jaws drop). The club is a great fellowship and knowledge base to have available, and to be able to supply a complete set of photos would help others who research and build these wonderful cars, such a gift would be much appreciated by all.

Congratulations.

Re: My new 1939 Sedan Delivery!

Thank you, everyone...
I will surely document ever step of the way... I have had a down payment on this thing for a month now... So I've been researching and not finding much of anything...
I want to document all that I can seeing as this car is so original....

I will also save anything and everything that I may swap to be able to put it back to 100% stock in the future if I so desire... most of the changes will just be bolt on anyways...

I wish it was just a little bit nicer condition... I would simply get it running and drive it as-is...mainly all 3 rain gutters the hood and the drivers door need major work....

as to the early ford V8 club... I joined earlier this year...

JM... don't worry... the 35 is safe & sound tucked in the other garage ;)
