Windshield sand damage repair

My 1957 Retractable hard top came from Victorville, CA and it has sand damage to the windshield from the sand storms out there. In the afternoon sun, the sand damage is a distraction. The rest of the time it is not very noticeable. Is there anything that can be done to improve the vision through it besides replacing the windshield? Something to use like a wax, Rainx or anything else that could improve its vision?

This was also demonstrated on TRUCKS on Speed network several years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYBCyLAvcvg

Looks like a good way to repair scratches in your glass. Thank you for your lead. From the sand storm damage, I am not sure how deep the damage is in my windshield. Since my windshield also has one rock ding in it, it might just be easier to order and install a new windshield. :(

I fixed a deep scratch and sand damage with a hard disk wheel and silicon paste, I think I got it thru the Eastman Company. It came out like new. Maybe 8 hours of work.
Thanks

i dont care what the comericals say, if you can feel the scratch or pit with your finger nail it can not be repaired safely or satisfactory, if you gring or polish to much in one spot you will get a blemish in the glass and it will distort your vision every time you look in that spot, it almost impossibe to polish a whole windshield to a consistant depth, if you look at a windshield that is sold as a second you will see the distorsion, buy a new winshield, shop around, check all suppliers, you will be amazed at the difference in prices

The windshield on my 55 looks like a million tiny lights shining in your eyes at night when I'm on the highway in the left lane (produced by the headlights of traffic going in the opposite direction). That's how you know a car has a LOT of highway miles on it.
