Re: tea pot carbs I vote bad. They were called "TOWERING INFERNOS" back in the days. OMO. "Kens Ford Carbs" ken ct.

Re: tea pot carbs 53' Merc 2bbl: The carburetor is very basic and gets poor gas millage, but I have found that if you assemble them then correctly (very tight) they do not leak. I due note that the mechanical fuel pump will not keep up with mine so I use a back up electric during heavy acceleration.

Re: tea pot carbs Tim
There were only 3 sets of "LIST" numbers for the correct Ford dual quad carburators. Can you enlighten us as to what "LIST" numbers are stamped on the base of your carburators. I have a correct dual quad setup on my 56 T Bird. It runs great! Oldmics |
Re: tea pot carbs i never found these carbs hard on fuel.they were nice working carbs when in good condition.
|
Re: tea pot carbs I am looking forward to using a T pot on my 272. Carb is done, engine is still unknown.
I think their bad reputation is probably undeserved. A retired mechanic friend, 78 years old and still wrenching out of his garage, likes them. And he is a Chevy guy! Post the List numbers so Oldmics can tell if they are a matched pair. |
Re: tea pot carbs I have been running a teapot 4 bbl carb for the last 21 years without problems.
|
Re: tea pot carbs I have a tea pot on my 56 TBird and it runs good. Depends on who rebuilds it. I hear lots of bad stories about Pony
|
Re: tea pot carbs Thanks for the responce! Carbs are installed with linkage and fuel lines so #'s hard to see. My best guess
edk 9510 11 list 1074 hope to fire them up this morning. Wish me luck! Thanks again fellas timcv |
Re: tea pot carbs Please tell us more about the engine and the car it will be in. Isnt this the set up used by Carrol Miller in the 56 at Bonneville all those years ago?

Re: tea pot carbs 292 Y block bored over and camed with high compression t bird heads 2-quads with mallory distr. manifold and carbs off t bird (so says the guy i bought them from) would like to use the old carbs if i can make them work. they're kool lookin

Re: tea pot carbs timcv:
Poor choice of words: hope to fire them up this morning. Wish me luck. :) Remember I am a believer in the Teapot...just trying to figure how to get better mileage out of it. |
Re: tea pot carbs T pots are ok but better preformance would be using the old cad rochesters. In 56 my 292 ran better with the cad carbs but all the time I had used the T post I had no problems .
|
Re: tea pot carbs Being totally unfamiliar with Rochesters, what model if any would be a good choice for my '55 272 with 4V intake of the same year?
|
Re: tea pot carbs If you can find a GM car with about the same size engine, it should be a done deal.
|
Re: tea pot carbs The so called T pot carb works good if rebuilt correctly. Not hi performance but will run good. I have rebuilt many of them in the last 50 years. Bill S.

Re: tea pot carbs I have a teapot on my 56 which has been rebuilt by "MIKE SUTER in PENNDRL,PA" and it runs excellent ...right out of the box and on to the manifold with no adjustments..He test them on his engine stand before returning them to you...If you need his address, email me...John in CT

Re: tea pot carbs Ok Guys I am a a ford guy and have heard of the Teapot. But that said who made them and are they the same size as a Carter WCFB?
|
Re: tea pot carbs Holley made them. Std Holley jets work just fine. Similar in flow to the Carters
