Mag coil damage When replacing the transmission cover on 27 Ford , noticed 2 coil wrappings were missing some corners.
What should I use to repair this? Don.t want to damage the mag. Thanks, Ron |
Re: Mag coil damage Was the MAG working? If youre not sure you should MEGGAR it... If all is good to go, get some Brakeclean spray degreaser and give it a good cleaning and some lite air to blow dry it. Mix some epoxy and brush it on neatly with an acid brush. The way a motor shop would do it is with GLYPTAL paint, but I think being oil saturated with you wanting to do an in place repair, Id use the epoxy.
Just picked some up at Retards for $14.95 / kit approx. 4-6 oz. Theres 5 minute and 60 minute stuff... yer choice! Was the coil damaged from the starter drive? ws |
Re: Mag coil damage Ideally, you should replace it with a rebuilt unit, but that is several days worth of labor and Bill's suggestions are a good repair. Do it right though, because if whatever you use to seal it comes off, it can plug up oil passages. I have seen what a improperly, cheap, repair has done and it wasn't pretty.
